Gold is a naturally soft metal, and like all fine jewellery, your piece will show signs of wear over time. With the right care, it will last for many years.
Everyday wear
Links, clasps and jump rings take the most strain and will wear gradually with regular use. Patterned and hollow chains, such as tulip and belcher styles, are lighter and more delicate than solid chains, so they need extra care. Snagging, pulling, knots and pressure during sleep or exercise can weaken or break a link
When to take it off
We recommend removing your jewellery when sleeping, showering or swimming, at the gym or playing sport, and when cleaning or working with chemicals. Chlorine, bleach and household cleaners can damage gold and stones.
Cleaning
Wash gently in warm water with mild soap, using a soft brush, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cloths. Put perfume, hairspray and creams on before your jewellery.
Storage
Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or box to prevent scratches and tangling. Fasten chains before storing.
Regular checks
Check clasps and links regularly for signs of wear. We recommend having chains inspected by a jeweller once a year, especially if worn daily.
Wear and tear
Normal wear and tear, including stretched or broken links, worn clasps and damage from accidents, misuse or lack of care, is not a manufacturing defect. Your statutory rights for faulty items are not affected.
